myTrailer helped kickstart my motocross hobby and removed most of the headaches I had getting started!
I was torn between wanting to ride and buying a trailer my bike could live in. It was so much work trying to decide on the right trailer model, and whether to buy new or used. I just wanted to ride! I rented a storage unit and a trailer from Uhaul. This wasn’t ideal. The storage place had limited hours, which limited my ability to ride, and Uhaul, while affordable, was a huge time drain. It took over an hour to pick up the rental trailer.
I live in a 2nd-floor apartment. I knew the logistics of owning and storing a dirt bike would be complicated. I bought a motorcycle hitch carrier to transport the bike and rented a storage unit. The hitch seemed flimsy, and I didn’t trust it with a shiny new toy! The storage unit ended up being too small. I rented a trailer from Uhaul and waisted an hour jumping through hoops to pick it up. I hadn’t noticed that the storage place closed at 10 p.m., and I had arrived at 10:30 p.m. They were closed. The trailer wasn’t enclosed, and I couldn’t leave my bike in it overnight, or it would have been stolen. Was I going to have to sleep in my car? I was panicked! Luckily, there was someone at the storage place who let me in after hours. Crisis averted!
I needed a better solution. I couldn’t spend all that time at Uhaul, and the rental unit wasn’t working out. I decided to buy an enclosed trailer. I had done two weeks of research on what trailer to buy on Facebook and Craigslist, but all I wanted to do was ride! I was convinced an enclosed trailer would solve my problems and get me back in the dirt.
I kept seeing listings for myTrailer, decided to give it a try and rent an enclosed trailer. I rented a trailer while I kept looking for one to buy. The experience with mytrailer.com was wonderful, pick-up was easy, and Bjarne walked me through the trailer, showed me how to hook it up, and I was off! I decided it was actually cheaper to rent it for 3 weeks rather than a few days here and there. I kept the trailer attached to my jeep with the bike inside, and off I went whenever the urge to ride hit me.
I still need to buy a trailer, but renting from myTrailer was a great option to postpone another large purchase for a while.
